Our Story

“PRP is a powerful, personalised treatment—from yourself for yourself—but its potential has been limited by the barrier of painful injections. My mission, born from years of listening to my patients, was to change that.

“Today, we’ve made that vision a reality. Our pioneering ARIAN™ technology offers a gentler, non-invasive way to access the benefits of PRP for rejuvenation and healing in the body. Alongside this, we’ve also developed tools that support scientists in advancing vital platelet research.

“Together, we’re unlocking the full potential of platelets not just for personal well-being, but for scientific discoveries too.”

Dr Mitra Najafi, Founder & CEO

Our Story. Our Vision

The Pplus Medical story begins with Dr Mitra Najafi, an award-winning clinician and PRP expert, who was driven to solve a clinical challenge voiced too many times by patients:

“I want the natural and regenerative potential of PRP, but I don’t want painful injections.”

Dr Najafi founded Pplus in 2014, embarking on a journey of meticulous research and development to create a gentler way to deliver Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). This vision has evolved into a globally unique, patented, and regulated technology platform that delivers PRP without injections, keeping patient comfort at the forefront.

Along the way, our journey also led to the creation of several breakthrough platelet technologies now supporting cutting-edge research at prestigious universities and laboratories across Europe, the USA, Australia, India, and China.

For over 12 years, we’ve remained deeply committed to our mission, investing in intensive research and development, even through the global pandemic that shook the world and challenged us on many levels. Despite the uncertainty, we stayed the course, driven by purpose and belief in the transformative power of platelets. That dedication continues to shape everything we do.

The Science That Made It Possible

Our first study, conducted in collaboration with St Thomas’ Hospital in London in 2015, laid the foundation for our scientific journey. Published in the British Journal of Biomedical Science in 2017, the study demonstrated that platelets can retain their viability and functional capacity at room temperature for at least five days. An insight that has since shaped the development of our platelet technologies.

The results of that study became the cornerstone of years of intensive research and development, enabling us to develop our current platelet storage device. This innovation now serves two key applications:

For Clinics

Gain a Competitive Edge

With our research foundation in place, we created ARIAN™ technology—a patented, CE-marked platform for applying PRP topically. This allows you to offer a unique, regulated, and non-invasive service, providing a powerful point of differentiation that attracts a wider patient base and opens new revenue streams for your practice.

For Patients

No More Needles

ARIAN™ technology is the direct answer to what patients have been asking for: a way to access the benefits of PRP without injections. This gentle, topical application makes the treatment accessible to anyone who’s been held back by a fear of needles.

Building Trust

A gentler approach to PRP still needed to meet the same rigorous standards as conventional therapy. We built our platform with uncompromising attention to safety and validation. Our work is:

Protected by a groundbreaking portfolio of 22 patents, several Trademarks, and Design Rights.

Validated by ISO 13485:2016 and CE-marked Medical Devices Regulation (MDR) 2017/745

Recognised by a European Union Seal of Excellence and a UK Parliamentary award for Dr Najafi.

What’s Next

We’re still in the early chapters of this story. What began as one doctor listening to her patients evolved into a platform that supports researchers, empowers clinicians, and offers patients a safe, reliable and pain-free alternative to invasive PRP. We’re now expanding into new fields, developing pain-reducing PRP solutions for wound care, gynaecology, orthopaedics, and hair restoration (not FDA approved, for research use only).

If you’re a forward-thinking partner or investor who is excited as we are about defining the next era of regenerative care, we’d love to talk.

Platelet science is evolving toward more reliable lab processes and more effective clinical results and we are proud to be at the forefront of this progress.
